Mr. E and I had a wonderful valentines day celebration this past week. Since we already had plans to babysit at our local women’s and children’s shelter on Thursday evening, and Wednesday is our day off, we decided to do most of our celebrating early. First, we got to sleep in.  Then we make breakfast together while listening to “Disney Love Songs.” AJ even broke out the kitchen torch to make me a special surprise…Grapefruit Brulee! It was delicious!

After breakfast I cut AJ’s hair (what a Valentines day gift right?). Then we got ready for the day. We then headed out to do one of my favorite activities…THRIFTING! We hit up two different Goodwills in some of the more wealthy neighborhoods near us. In the end we only walked away with two treasures: 1) crutches for Adelphia  and 2) a cute blue and white gingham shirt from JCrew. But it was great fun browsing around. My husband sure knows me!

We enjoyed the breakfast so much, that we decided to return to Elzinga's for a late romantic supper. On the menu: Chef A.J.'s Raspberry Baked Brie, and Mushroom & Spinach Savory Crepes. We sure know how to celebrate our love in a delicious way!

After returning home, we made dinner, and enjoyed a relaxing night in. AJ wrote me a beautiful valentines day song; I cried because it was really sweet! Then we cuddled up, enjoyed our last day on sugar by devouring our yummy desserts, and watched a movie we had rented from the library. All in all, it was a wonderful day of celebration! Valentines Day is so much more fun to celebrate when you’re married, and I sure do love my Valentine : ) !

In hopes of becoming healthier, February 14th was the start of our "No Sugar" diet; this is a pic of everything in our house we had to toss/give away.

So obviously we had to celebrate our love, and last day eating sugar the right way...a Flourless Chocolate Souffle w/ Real Whip Cream, & Raspberry Compote.
