Drifting

Drifting

(Psalm 131:1-2; Philippians 4:6-7)

A Poem Written By Sabrina Johnson

Disarray.

Our lives often seem to

                  take away

the things we love most,

Leaving behind hurt,

                       pain and cOnfUsIon.

                                                                                                                                                                                        Drifting…

Each one of us is prone to stray,

Away from our only true source of life and love.

Our spirits fly around like severed power lines,

                   Destroying everything they touch.

Discontented.

Striving to be what we cannot,

Lacking the wisdom, power and knowledge.

 DETERMINED.

We battle for control,

As the war wages on.

Debauched.

Our hearts stand tall,

Ignoring the tension.

De              void.

 A godlike stance,

Unaccompanied by the character required.

destitute.

Feeling lost and alone,

We begin to realize that godliness is unattainable on our own

Bending our hearts to our Father,

We come seeking His face.

Depending.

Clinging to our Father in the face of c h A o S,

Continuously praying.

 Delivered.

Now knowing we don’t have control,

We cry out for grace.

Designed.

We have been created for a purpose,

Perfectly planned and prepared.

 Destined.

Our praying spirits look onward,

The hope of Heaven quieting our once restless souls.

               …Drifting.

In the moments when we begin to stray,

May we turn towards our source of life and love.
